Choosing an international school in Accra

What 'international' actually means here, how Crystal Heights runs both pathways on one campus, and how to check us against anyone else.

What "international school" means in Accra

In Accra, "international school" usually means a school teaching a curriculum examined outside Ghana. At Crystal Heights International School, that curriculum is Pearson Edexcel: iPrimary through iLowerSecondary to International GCSE and International A-Level, with assessment set and moderated internationally. An International A-Level from our campus in Shikpontele, Amasaman, reads the same to a university in London, Toronto, or Cape Town as one earned anywhere else in the world.

What makes Crystal Heights unusual is that the international pathway is not the only one. The same campus runs a Ghanaian pathway on the GES curriculum , JHS to SHS, examined through WAEC's BECE and WASSCE, with boarding available at every level. Families choose a direction after iPrimary; nobody changes schools to change pathways.

One campus, Creche to A-Level

The school runs seven divisions: Preschool (five class years, starting at Creche), iPrimary 1–6, iLowerSecondary (ILS 1–3), IGCSE, A-Level, JHS, and SHS. The day runs 8:00am–2:45pm across three terms, September to July. Classes split into small, thematically named sections. When a section fills, the school opens a new one rather than crowd it.

The results are on the record: Crystal Heights learners have taken the highest mark in the world in three consecutive Pearson Edexcel exam series: iPrimary Mathematics in 2022 and 2023, and iLowerSecondary Global Citizenship in 2024. Each was recognised with an Outstanding Pearson Learner Award, see the achievements.

How to check us against anyone

Visit. Schools differ most in the things a website can't fake: how classrooms sound, how staff speak to children, whether the labs are actually in use. Book a tour, bring your questions, and ask for the fee schedule for your child's stage. We share it on enquiry, one message on WhatsApp away.
